Electric Fire are a group of musicians i’ve been working with since August 2015. They came together as a collaboration between two projects I work on at Heart n Soul - Do Your Own Thing a cross-arts project for young people with learning disabilities and SoundLab an exploration into digital music technology and accessibility. They became a band organically from a few sessions of playing together using loops and samples from songs created from sessions at Do Your Own Thing.
From these initial rehearsals they’ve gone on to write their own songs, collaborated with the London Symphony Orchestra played live loads, including at DIY Space For London, the Barbican, The Royal Festival Hall, Tate Modern, Young Dada Fest and Heart n Soul’s Beautiful Octopus Club make a 3D video, be a part of Heart n Soul’s Big 30, go on tour a couple of times and recently record their own EP - ‘EFX’ - which was released in December 2018.
They describe their sound as “chain funk” and “egg electro”, the EP is filled with kaleidoscopic party bangers that invite you in to dance, sing along and get lost in their world!
Electric Fire is made up of Alicia (vocals), Ehima (drums and percussion), Sam (synths and vocals) and William (laptop, production and vocals). All the band members have learning disabilities and their unique way of seeing and experiencing the world comes through in their music making it free from cynicism, pretension and full of joy!
They are set to perform in Hong Kong in April 2019.
